Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PADD)

PADD program was created in 1975, to pursue legal, administrative and other remedies on behalf of people with developmental disabilities (following passage of the first special education legislation).

Client Assistance Program (CAP)

CAP was mandated in 1984, to provide advocacy to individuals seeking services under the federal Rehabilitation Act (such as services from the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services, Centers for Independent Living, supported employment programs and sheltered workshops).

Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI)

PAIMI was created in 1986, to provide advocacy services and conduct abuse and neglect investigations on behalf of people with mental illness who live in or have recently left institutions

Protection and Advocacy of Individual Rights (PAIR)

PAIR was established in 1993, to provide advocacy services to people with disabilities who do not qualify for services under other programs, and focusing on enforcement of federal and state laws requiring access to public accommodations

Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology (PAAT)

PAAT was created in 1994, to enable individuals with disabilities to gain access to technology devices and assistive technology services.

Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS)

PABSS was formed in 2001, to help individuals who receive Social Security (SSI) and Disability Insurance Social Security (SSDI) Benefits break down the barriers to employment. Barriers to employment include discrimination; health related issues; the need for assistive technology; accommodation at the work place; or transportation issues.

Protection and Advocacy for the Help America Vote Act (PAVA)

PAVA was established in 2003 to help ensure that individuals with disabilities can fully participate in the electorial process, including being able to register to vote, cast a vote, and to access polling facilities. The Agency works closely with other voting and civil rights organizations in education, outreach and monitoring activities.

Protection and Advocacy for Traumatic Brain Injury (PATBI)

PATBI was enacted in 2000 to provide legal advocacy for persons with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). PATBI works with individuals with TBI, their families and other stakeholders to ensure that needed services are available throughout the state of West Virginia and to help develop their self-advocacy skills.
